Kaea for Communities

Kaea understands that there are many communities around the world facing significant challenges. Unfortunately, these challenges can include a lack of resources or experience required to navigate the complex and often emotional journey to restore cultural heritage and return their ancestors home - from making enquiries and requests to negotiating and collaborating with various agencies to complete returns.

The Kaea Initiative

To address the challenges that community groups are often faced with, Kaea will take on at least one case each year through a dedicated and free program. We will assist and guide community groups through the first stages of this journey, including:

  • Enquiry: Requesting collection information from an institution and understanding their repatriation and restitution process;
  • Request: Preparing and making a formal request.

Applications are now open for community groups to apply for the Kaea Initiative 2023.

At Kaea Consultancy, we are focused on supporting the community. Here, we extend our hand to community groups, Non-Profits, NGOs, and small community-led museums by offering a complimentary 90-minute consultation. We invite you to connect and explore how we can be of assistance.
